Nestled in the heart of the Sundays River Valley, South Africa, the Whyte family have been farming out of Broadlands since 1890.
They were battling with double-digit year-on-year electricity increases and interruptions with their power supply hindering daily operations when they approached us.
We got to work and created a Microgrid that consolidated their 5 Eskom points into 1 point of supply with a rooftop solar system tied in on their packhouse. We extended their journey to energy independence by installing a 300kWh battery.
The microgrid and solar pv system are now used to power irrigation, the packhouse, staff houses and the farmhouse, ensuring a reduced reliance on the national grid and a secure energy supply.
